Why It Matters to Shop Small

But my goal here is to point out what is perhaps not as obvious: shopping small is for the benefit of everyone, owner and shopper alike. Believe it or not, there aren't enough people who like me enough and/or make enough money to shop at my store solely for my sake. Counting on those few people would be unfair, irresponsible, and unsustainable. So, now that my selfish motives have been addressed, let's go shopping (small).
A Business Year in Review

There is enough material in the first year of business to write a book. Each month could be a chapter citing the wonderful people I connected with, the mistakes I made, the elation when things went right, the meltdowns when things went really wrong, and the evolution of the store in both space and product. Oh, and there would a lot of pictures of my pugs.

You may not know that blogging is what got me into this mess. Or at least what I blame for getting me into this mess. In actuality, my messes are far too complex to blame just one source. It's not a bad mess (usually). Messiness is my comfort zone, so I use this word in a mostly complementary way.
